STUDIES
Stemming from the process of cartooning, Ziemann treats his studies as character, prop, and scene development. Functioning as both preliminary drawings and design blueprints, they are integral to planning the engineering of his tableaux. The studies record recurring themes, shapes, patterns, and formal gestures over time. Moods and attitudes resurface, allowing a generative sense of openness to emerge during the ideation phase of Ziemann’s work.
